Carolina Alves is a Brazilian tennis player, who has a career-high singles ranking of world No 317, achieved on May 10, 2021. She has won five singles and 21 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. She made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2015 Rio Open in the doubles event, partnering with Ingrid Gamarra Martins.
Carolina Meligeni Rodrigues Alves was born April 23, 1996, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is the niece of former tennis player Fernando Meligeni and sister of tennis player Felipe Meligeni Alves. During her junior career, she won several trophies in Latin America and proved herself to have a bright future in tennis.
Carolina Alves made her professional debut already in 2011 at $10,000 Santos (Brazil), reaching the second round. Already next year, she played in three more ITF tournaments – $25,000 Brasilia (Brazil), $25,000 Sao Jose Do Rio Preto (Brazil), and $15,000 W15 Sao Paulo (Brazil). Unfortunately, she hardly crossed the first round on all of them.
In 2013, Carolina Alves reached her first professional final at $10,000 Sao Jose Do Rio Preto (Brazil) but lost to Gabriela Ce.
In 2014-2015, she turned entirely to the ITF Circuit and played mostly in Latin America, improving her service and game. However, her biggest achievement were the semi-finals at $10,000 Sao Jose Do Rio Preto (Brazil), and the quarter-finals at $60,000 W60 Asuncion (Paraguay).
In 2016, Carolina Alves won her first ITF title at $15,000 Hammamet (Tunisia). Later the same year, she won one more title. The next year, she was the runner-up at $15,000 W15 Antalya (Turkey), where spent most of her season preparation. In 2018, Carolina Alves reached the final at $25,000 W25 Santa Margherita Di Pula (Italy) but lost to Katharina Hobgarski.
Carolina Alves won her next titles at the $15,000 W15 Sao Paulo (Brazil) in 2019 and $15,000 W15 Cairo (Egypt) in 2020.
