Andreescu started his season in April
In December 2021, Andreescu announced an indefinite hiatus from tennis to address her mental health.
After skipping the start of the season, Andreescu made his season debut in Stuttgart in April. After starting his season, Andreescu achieved some remarkable results. At the WTA 1000 event in Rome, Andreescu reached the quarterfinals before losing to Iga Swiatek.
Then, during the grass-court season, Andreescu reached the Bad Homburg final, in which she fell three sets short to Caroline Garcia. Andreescu, who is now ranked 46th in the world, recently said that she is still not at her best, but she didn’t want to be negative about it.
“I definitely don’t think it’s there yet. I just have to keep playing, but I also have to tell myself that I can’t play very well every day. It’s just not what it is, sadly I wish I could do that. I really, really want this, especially after so much time off, taking time for myself and all those hard times.
I really feel like I’m in a great place right now and even me just talking right now; last year, for example, it would be more negative, but I feel very good,» Andreescu said.
