21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic congratulated Canada on winning their first Davis Cup title. On Sunday, Canada defeated Australia 2-0 to become the 16th nation to win a title in the competition. Djokovic, who led Serbia to its first Davis Cup title in 2010, was in Malaga watching the final between Canada and Australia.
After Canada wrote tennis history, Djokovic congratulated them in person and later on Twitter. «Congratulations to the Davis Cup Champions, Canada: Vasek Pospisil, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Frank Dancevic, Alexis Galarneau,» Djokovic wrote on Twitter.

Vasek Pospisil: Djokovic came to congratulate us
Pospisil, who has a great relationship with Djokovic, revealed that the Serb approached the Canadian team to congratulate them on their great victory.
“He sent me a message that he was coming. Then she came over and congratulated us all, which was really cool. It was great to see him here,» Pospisil said, according to Gaspar Ribeiro Lanca.

“We haven’t really thought about that, but it’s going to be big and I can assure you we definitely won’t be sleeping until the 6 am flight,” Dancevic said.

Denis Shapovalov, who made his Davis Cup debut in 2016, defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-2, 6-4 to give Canada an early lead in the final against Australia.
In the next match, Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Alex de Minaur 6-3 6-4 to complete Canada’s victory. En route to winning the Davis Cup title, Canada also defeated Germany in the quarterfinals and Italy in the semifinal, respectively.
Felix Auger-Aliassime, who won three titles during the indoor season and also made his ATP Finals debut, was absolutely terrific for Canada in Malaga. In the knockout stage of the Davis Cup Finals, Auger-Aliassime went 3-0 in his singles matches.
Shapovalov lost his individual matches against Germany and Italy, but excelled in the final against Kokkinakis. As a result, Canada will now be known as a Davis Cup title nation.
