Novak Djokovic he has made headlines in the first two Masters 1000s of the season despite not playing in either. Nole has finally been unable to play in both tournaments because he was not vaccinated against Covid according to the law that is still in force in the United States. This has seen him bid farewell to the men’s No. 1 ranking, as the brilliant Carlos Alcaraz, after dominating Medvedev in the Indian Wells final, has returned to the top.
Djokovic has already confirmed in advance the tournaments in which he will play on the clay tour. The Serbian starts in Monte Carlo and ends this tour with the second Grand Slam of the season, Roland Garros. If all goes according to plan, he will play three Masters 1000 (Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome). There are many who want to see Nadal vs. Djokovic and it looks like there will be plenty of opportunities, although there is no doubt that this duel will be more than special if they meet at Roland Garros, with both having 22 Grand Slam titles.
Novak is not in Barcelona, a tournament with a star-studded lineup. The tournament will be played in the same week Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) border country with their country and Djokovic will be there. The Serb already played in ATP Belgrade last season and was eliminated in the final against Rublev. Novak will look to return to No. 1 in the men’s rankings on this tour and make history by capturing that long-awaited 23rd Major title as soon as possible, putting him in charge of that ranking.
