Ani Vangelova is a Bulgarian tennis player with a career-high WTA Singles Ranking of No 685, achieved on May 8, 2017.
Ani Vangelova was born on July 14, 1993, in Sofia, Bulgaria. She started playing tennis at an early age and after several successful tournaments in her native country also took part in many international events in the Balkans.
Ani Vangelova made her professional debut in 2009 at $10,000 Rousse (Bulgaria). Unfortunately, she lost in the first round. During the year she played at another ITF tournament – $10,000 Dobrich (Bulgaria), again losing in the first round.
During the next three years, she played at various tournaments on the ITF tour without any significant success. Her first little breakthrough came in 2014 at $10,000 W15 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt), reaching the quarter-finals. In 2015 and 2016, she reached the quarter-finals two more times at $10,000 Antalya (Turkey), $10,000 Cakovec (Croatia), and $15,000 Nis (Serbia). She also reached the semi-finals of $10,000 Baku (Azerbaijan).
In 2018, Ani Vangelova reached her first final at $15,000 W15 Heraklion (Greece), which was her biggest singles success in her career. She lost to Xenia Knoll in two sets. A year later, she reached another final at $15,000 W15 Tabarka (Tunisia), but again lost in the final, this time to Eva Vedder.
However, she performed more successfully in doubles, where she had three ITF titles.
