tournament draw

A great final in mixed doubles at the Australian Open. Both pairs arrived at the tournament on the same route, albeit with very different experiences. On the other hand, experienced ones from India Rohan Bopanna y Sania Mirza. Bopanna, 42, has been ranked third in doubles and won the mixed doubles title at Roland Garros 2017. Mirza, 36, was playing the last tournament of her career, she was world No. 1 and also won three titles in women’s doubles and three more in mixed doubles.

His rivals were the Brazilians Rafael Matos y Luisa Stefani. While both are usually great in doubles, Matos has only had positive results on the Challenger circuit, while Stefani won bronze at the Olympics and Pan American Games.

Stefani and Matos are masters

The game started as impossible as possible for the Brazilians, who made a break from Bopanna’s pass in the first game. But a few games later, at Stefani’s service, the Indian duo got their break back. The situation became more complicated for the South Americans as their rivals took advantage of the second opportunity and went on to win 5-3. However, they would immediately tie the story and lead to a definitional tiebreaker. In that semi-final, the Brazilians dominated from the start and won 7-2.

The South American pair would make it to the second round with similar sentiments, using the Indian pair as the least powerful Mirza. Bravely controlling that gap and maintaining their passing game, they were on their way to victory. Finally, after another later break, Stefani and Matos sealed their victory 6-2.
