'Since 2015 Novak Djokovic Averages Almost...', Says Expert

‘Since 2015 Novak Djokovic averages almost…’, says expert

Maximizing results has been Novak Djokovic’s goal this year. The Serbian tennis player entered 2022 as number one in the world and with the intention of defending the title he won in Australia: however, both things got out of hand due to his decision not to get vaccinated against Covid19.

For this reason, he could not play all the tournaments on his calendar, losing more and more points in the ranking. The difficult start, however, was offset by the second half of the season, in which he achieved great successes: victory at the Internazionali d’Italia; his seventh Wimbledon win; the conquests of Tel Aviv and Astana, followed by the final of the Paris-Bercy tournament; and the final of the Nitto ATP Finals.

Meanwhile, he did not travel to North America, skipping among others the Us Open, the last Grand Slam event. Thanks to these results, Djokovic, who had finished on the brink of the top 10, rises to fifth in the standings.

Novak Djokovic will once again finish the year in the top five: it is the fifteenth year that the Serb has finished in the top five of the ATP ranking. The last year he finished outside of this range was 2017, when he finished number twelve in the world; Before 2017 you have to go back to 2006, that is, almost to the beginning of his professional career.

The Serb is the third tennis player since 1973 to achieve this milestone. Only two players have done better than the Belgrade tennis player: Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Both have finished the year in the top 5 sixteen times, one more than Djokovic.

The latter, however, has a chance to surpass the Swiss champion, who said goodbye to tennis at the beginning of September; while beating the Spaniard, who continues to occupy the second position in the ranking, is more difficult.

Nole Djokovic is a legend

The 2022 ATP Finals were won by Novak Djokovic, who defeated Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-3. ESPN Deportes pundit Luis Alfredo Alvarez described him as the most dominant player in tennis and expects him to win more than 25 Grand Slam titles.

«Novak Djokovic has become the most dominant figure in tennis. Since 2015, he has averaged almost 2 Grand Slam titles per year. With the competition out there now and coming out, I don’t see that changing in the next few years. 3 years. Djokovic will reach 26-30 GS titles,» Alvarez tweeted.
