Serena Williams reacted to Caroline Wozniacki’s happy news, saying she’s «already in love» with her newborn son. On Thursday, 2018 Australian Open champion Wozniacki announced that she and her husband, David Lee, have welcomed a baby boy named James.
Last year, Wozniacki and Lee became parents for the first time, when Olivia was born. «Family of 4. James Wozniacki Lee was born on October 24, 2022. They are all healthy and Olivia is thrilled to be a big sister,» Wozniacki announced Thursday.
Williams shared Wozniacki’s post on her Instagram story and captioned it: «I’m already in love. Congratulations Caroline and David.»
Williams and Wozniacki – two best friends
When Wozniacki announced that she was pregnant with her second child in June, Williams wrote on Instagram: «I love you!» After Williams revealed her plans to retire from her after the US Open, Wozniacki shared a touching message: «I love you and I’m so proud of you.»
Meanwhile, Wozniacki has been retired since the 2020 Australian Open. While it’s clear Wozniacki won’t return to professional tennis, Williams has hinted multiple times that he may change his mind. More recently, Williams teased fans with the idea of returning.
«I’m not retired. The chances (of a comeback) are very high. You can come to my house, I have a court,» Williams said during the TechCrunch Disrupt conference. After his US Open first round win over Danka Kovinic, Williams received a special ceremony.
Recently, US Open tournament director Stacey Allaster jokingly revealed that the tournament was ready in case Williams lost and tried to escape from the court. «We were going to see how the cards played out. We saw how she (Serena Williams) played in Cincinnati against Raducanu and it wasn’t pretty.
She just walked off the field. So we had our security at her place, so if she lost, she wouldn’t walk off the court. Even Gayle and Billy, standing there, so she wouldn’t go. Fortunately we didn’t have that moment,» Allaster said on ‘Courtside: The US Open Podcast’.
