Federer, a former 20-time Grand Slam champion, decided to sell the car on the auction block and give all the proceeds to a charity.
The lucky buyer now has a Mercedes that features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine and a 150 kW electric motor that produces a total of 831 horsepower and 1082 pound-feet of torque; that power is delivered to each wheel via a nine-speed automatic transmission
Federer enjoys a relaxed life in retirement
Last week, Federer traveled to Tokyo for the Uniqlo event.
During the tournament, Federer spoke about the laid-back life he has been living since his professional tennis career ended. “As a tennis player, you are always thinking about your next practice, your next match. It never lets you go, your next trip, your next packing.
I don’t think I was very aware of it, how much that thought is always there, and it travels with you, until you withdraw and then you realize all the stress is gone. Doping as an example. We have to fill out doping forms every day, one hour during the day, wherever you are.
You are always aware in the back of your head, they could be coming at any time, especially at that hour. Once everything is gone, you feel lighter, relieved to be able to live normally after 25 years,» Federer explained.
Federer, who underwent knee surgery in August 2021, had hoped to make a final comeback sometime in 2022. Unfortunately, Federer’s knee did not progress enough and the Swiss was forced to end his career.
