Nick Kyrgios admits his nerves were at an all time high during this year’s Wimbledon final. The 27-year-old Kyrgios made his first Grand Slam singles final at Wimbledon last year. In the Wimbledon final, Kyrgios faced Djokovic, who already had six Wimbledon titles in his collection.
Meeting Djokovic at Wimbledon is one of the most difficult tasks a player can have, but Kyrgios was not shy. Kyrgios did not back down against Djokovic, but the Serb managed to beat the Australian 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
«I don’t get nervous, it’s just tennis, not life and death, but I had a great moment this year, obviously the Wimbledon final, I was probably the most nervous, walking against Djokovic was one of those experiences that I’ve had. I hadn’t done it before, I felt nervous,» Kyrgios said, per wowowtennis.

Djokovic encouraged Kyrgios to keep his head up
After Djokovic defeated Kyrgios to win his seventh Wimbledon title, he praised Kyrgios’ run at Wimbledon and told the Australian to keep his head up because he was sure to have more Grand Slam careers.
“Nick, you’ll be back. Not just at Wimbledon, but in the finals. I know it’s hard to find words of comfort after a tough loss like this, but you showed why you deserve to be one of the best players in the world, particularly on this surface.
Congratulations to you and your team for an amazing tournament, I wish you all the best,» Djokovic told Kyrgios during the trophy presentation. Two months after Wimbledon, Kyrgios enjoyed his best career at the US Open. After Kyrgios ousted Defending US Open champion Daniil Medvedev suffered an upset quarter-final loss to Karen Khachanov.
Kyrgios was visibly devastated after failing to win the US Open and even said that he felt he had let some people down. However, it has been a breakout season for Kyrgios, who will be looking to win his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January.
