Martina Navratilova Shares Coaching Advice To Emma Raducanu

Martina Navratilova shares training tips with Emma Raducanu

Martina Navratilova believes that Dmitry Tursunov is a good coach for Emma Raducanu and has advised the 19-year-old to stay with the Russian coach. Raducanu, 19, parted ways with coach Torben Beltz at the end of April. This summer, Raducanu has been on trial with coach Tursunov.

Raducanu has had several managerial changes over the past year and Navratilova believes the 19-year-old definitely needs stability as a manager. «This is a good training situation for her,» Navratilova told the WTA Tour website.

«I hope he stands his ground. If I had that many coaches in a year, I’d be struggling too. Too many points of view, too many philosophies, too much information. When you get information from a coach, you can analyze that, find out.

But when you get it from so many different people, how are you supposed to process all of that?

Raducanu advised to keep Tursunov

In their first tournament together, Raducanu reached the Washington quarterfinals.

Raducanu then reached the Round of 16 in Cincinnati after beating Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka back-to-back. Raducanu beat Williams and Azarenka quite easily and Tursunov was praised after those victories for the tactics he prepared.

Last week, Barry Cowan opined that Raducanu looks better on the pitch since bringing in Tursunov. «If the role of him is also there to make Emma Raducanu feel relaxed, then that’s half the battle,» Cowan told Sky Sports. “If you’re a happy player off the court, chances are you’ll be a happy player on the court.

So at the moment it seems to fit in quite well, obviously later on we’ll see how long that relationship lasts, but I think at the moment it seems like a pretty positive impact that it’s had because Raducanu looks much happier on the pitch.»

Tursunov quickly became one of the most respected coaches on the Tour after leading Aryna Sabalenka and Anett Kontaveit into the top 10.
