Former British Billie Jean King Cup captain Judy Murray says it’s «disappointing» that Emma Raducanu is being forced to miss the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. On Friday, 2021 US Open champion Raducanu announced her withdrawal from the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, scheduled to start on November 8.
Raducanu, who suffered a wrist injury earlier this month, failed to recover in time for the Billie Jean King Cup final. «Disappointing,» Murray wrote on Twitter following the news of Raducanu’s withdrawal.

Raducanu ‘really wanted’ to play BJK Cup Finals
In a statement, Raducanu insisted that he really wanted to play, but doctors told him that would not be possible.
«It is disappointing to receive the news from the doctors that I will not be ready on time, especially at home. I tried to do everything to have it ready on time, since my last tournament I have been working every day on physical training + rehabilitation» Raducanu said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Raducanu withdrew from the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca to focus on recovering from a wrist injury. Three weeks ago, British captain Anne Keothavong said Raducanu assured her that she would do everything she could to compete in the Billie Jean King Cup finals.
“I was literally on the phone with her this morning at the airport. We have the benefit of time on our side. The Billie Jean King Cup finals aren’t for another month. She is doing her best to rest and recover and has a rehab program.
We’ll just have to see how it goes and she has to handle it and take care of herself, which is the most important thing. I know that she really wants to be part of this team, she had a great experience when we were in Prague.
That’s great when you have your best player saying all the right things,» Keothavong told the PA news agency. Raducanu’s withdrawal from the Billie Jean King Cup Finals means his 2022 season is officially over.
