Jelena Dokic showed a 20kg weight loss, in response to body-threatening trolls

Jelena Dokic has revealed her new look on Instagram after shedding 20kg.

Dokic, who celebrated her 41st birthday in April, was diagnosed with an eating disorder as a result of years of physical abuse and trauma. But Dokic wasn’t ashamed of her weight or physical appearance or anything like that. Instead, she wants to be a role model for being comfortable in her own body and fighting body shaming.

However, this week, Dokic shared a post showing her body transformation. The 2000 Wimbledon semifinalist emphasized in her post that she has a family history of diabetes and developed high blood pressure last year: «It’s about health, not size.»

Dokic says her diet was slow but effective as she lost 20 pounds in 10 months. In addition, the 41-year-old woman explained the changes she made in her diet.

«The most important thing is that regardless of my weight, I’m happy and proud of both pictures and that I’m always kind. This is about health, not SIZE,» Dokic wrote in an Instagram post.

«Lots of questions about being healthy made me lose weight. Weight loss wasn’t a priority, it was a result of taking care of my health. Remember, I’m not an expert and this is what worked for me.

«I did not lose weight quickly, I lost 20 kilograms in less than 10 months. It was not fast, there were small changes over time, I wanted to continue. There was no diet and I did not worry about the number. On the scale.

«I have a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure and I started having high blood pressure. Also, I was very sluggish and didn’t have enough energy for my very busy and hectic lifestyle. I couldn’t cope and I especially didn’t have enough energy mentally and I had to change that.

When Dokic first showed off her body transformation, she faced mixed reviews on her Instagram post. While some applauded Dokic for taking care of her health, some were less positive about her activism, accusing her of «losing to diet culture.»

And last week, the 2000 Wimbledon semifinalist detailed what inspires her diet and why it’s only about health-related things.

«It’s not good if you gain weight and it’s not good if you lose weight. It’s not good if you look 0,10 or 18,» Dokic said in a post on Instagram last week.

“I had some health problems but I wanted to be fit and healthy and when I turned 40 last year I started thinking about my family history of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems.

«Also, my work has increased significantly and I needed to be physically and mentally healthy and have more energy. I didn’t have enough energy to keep going, especially mentally. I had to eat healthy food to achieve that. So, I didn’t work out. «I focus a lot on weight, but just to feel better. Making choices.

«Now a few people have jumped on the judgment and shaming train for my weight loss and said I succumbed to ‘diet culture’ and don’t represent plus size people, so please don’t even go there.»

Dokic is very open about her mental health and trauma
