Former world number 3 Dominic Thiem admits that every player will want him as their opponent if he continues in this form. Thiem, the 2020 US Open champion, is going through a really tough streak as he is only 1-6 at the start of the 2023 season.
Thiem left Santiago early this week after Cristian Garin handed the Austrian a 6-2, 7-6(2) loss in the first round. Thiem, now ranked 99th in the world, insists he looks great in practice, but that doesn’t translate in his matches.
«I don’t put my opponents in trouble. If I continue at this level, everyone will want to play against me. In practice I do a lot of good things, but when I’m on the court I don’t.» I know what’s wrong with me» Thiem told Diario AS, as revealed by We Are Tennis.

Thiem hasn’t had it easy since returning from a long injury break.
Last March, Thiem returned to action after 10 months out with a wrist injury.
It’s been a year since Thiem returned to tennis and he’s nowhere near the level that once made him one of the best players in the world. Thiem, who will turn 30 in September, recently admitted that he is thinking about a life beyond tennis.
«I constantly think about a life beyond tennis. I think tennis was, for a long time, the only part of my life, which is good in a way, but if you get older it’s not good anymore, you need a life more Beyond tennis, you need other thoughts in your head, other things to do and the time off due to injury and the difficult time to come back helped me in those terms and I’m very happy about that.» Thiem said on the ATP Tennis Radio Podcast.
