Elon University Women’s Tennis team obtains two resounding victories against the Hampton University Pirates (3-6) and the Kings Methodist University (1-3) during the doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, as reported by the Elon University website.
Phoenix’s seeded doubles duo of junior Lizette Reding and senior Sibel Tanik quickly won their first doubles match and did so by the nature of a 6-0 golden set. The duo is now 6-3 in doubles on the season.
Freshman Helen Sarikulaya and sophomore Miray Konar got the first point as Phoenix won their game 6-1. Head coach Elizabeth Anderson said she believes the force of the competition Elon faced today will help Phoenix move forward: «It was just for us to be really disciplined and focused and keep working on each player’s plays and doubles as well.» . I think everyone made a lot of good improvements today.»
