Will Coco Gauff play the US Open?

In Cincinnati, while leading 5-3 against Marie Bouzkova during her first-round match, Gauff sprained her ankle.

Gauff then lost the next five games before finally pulling out of the match. With the US Open starting in 10 days, fans of his raised concerns. Hi everyone! Just wanted to give an update as I have received tons of really nice messages of concern.

I promise you I’m fine! The world is not ending lol! I’m told it’s most likely a very minor sprain, so it should all heal up pretty soon. Thank you all for reaching out and I’ll see you soon,» Gauff wrote in a message posted on his Twitter.

Whether Gauff will join the US Open in both the singles and doubles draws remains to be seen. Gauff is the highest ranked WTA doubles player in the world. «Being No. 1 is great. I’m speechless,» Gauff said, according to the WTA website.

«Honestly, when I was a kid, I didn’t even know there were separate rankings for singles and doubles. So when I was a kid, no. But when I came on tour and realized I could do well in doubles, yes. I didn’t. I put pressure on myself to do it, but I wanted to do it.

Who wouldn’t want to be number one at something? But yeah, I would say when I got on tour and started doing well in doubles and my ranking started going up, I realized No. 1 was possible,” Gauff said.
