Andy Murray felt it was «very nice» to see Rafael Nadal teaming up with Roger Federer for the Swiss’ final match. Federer, a former 20-time Grand Slam champion, chose the Laver Cup as the tournament he wanted to retire from.
Days before the Laver Cup, Federer publicly expressed his desire to team up with Nadal in his final match. Nadal granted Federer’s wish when the Swiss’s career came to an end playing alongside Nadal. While Nadal and Federer competed on the same side of the net, Big Four group members Murray and Novak Djokovic supported them from the Team Europe bench.

Murray had a winning start in Spain
This week, Murray is competing in the inaugural Gijon Open. In the first round of Gijón, Murray beat local Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-5 6-2. Murray was down an early break, but he responded by breaking Davidovich Fokina in games eight and 12 to steal the first set.
After winning the first set, Murray broke Davidovich Fokina three times in the second set to complete a straight-set victory. «In the first set he was playing much better than me. He had a lot of chances to get the second break and I managed to stay strong in those moments.»
