Andrey Rublev makes one thing clear about Novak Djokovic

Andrey Rublev acknowledged Novak Djokovic’s dominance following their ATP Finals match and the Russian underlined that the Serb is the top seed wherever he goes. On Wednesday, Rublev faced Djokovic in their second Round Robin match in Turin.

Rublev, who was delivering top-level tennis at the start of the match, was ultimately beaten by Djokovic, who ended up winning 6-4, 6-1. If Rublev had played someone else on Wednesday, he probably would have won the first set and probably the match with the level he showed from the start.

But Djokovic is not like the rest of the competition, as he managed to neutralize Rublev’s game and in the end he achieved a routine victory in two sets.

Rublev on Djokovic: he is always the favorite

«I think today the match was just one set because in the second I completely burned out.

There wasn’t even tennis. Everything was clear. The first set, as you said, the hardest to play against Novak, especially on this surface that we’re playing here, is his serve. The way he serves is really high percentage, all very close to the lines.

I didn’t even get a chance to do anything. Maybe there was a 30-All, 15-All, but nothing special, yes. Novak and Rafa, they are always favorites no matter what tournament they play. Everyone expects them to always finish with each other.

I mean, the rest, I don’t even know what to say because Novak is one of the greatest. Every tournament he plays, he’s the favourite,» Rublev said, according to Sportskeeda. On Wednesday, Djokovic got a bit of revenge on Rublev.

Earlier this year, Djokovic and Rublev met in the final in Belgrade. Back then, Rublev defeated Djokovic in three sets to prevent the Serb from winning it all in front of his home crowd. Djokovic now owns a 2-1 head-to-head against Rublev.
