Alexander Bublik Opens On Becoming Father For First Time

Alexander Bublik opens up about being a father for the first time

Alexander Bublik admits he’s not really thinking too much about the upcoming US Open after welcoming his first child. On August 16, Bublik and his wife welcomed a baby boy, Vasily. Bublik kicked off his tour of the North American hard court at the Montreal Masters, where he was defeated in the first round by Jenson Brooksby.

Seven days later, his wife gave birth and he skipped last week’s Cincinnati Masters, as well as this week’s Winston-Salem Open. “They gave us three weeks, approx. date. We didn’t know if it should have been Montreal or Cincy or the start of the US Open,” Bublik told

“But she felt she had to come. We waited four or five days until the baby came out.»

Bublik getting used to the ‘new chapter’ of his life

Bublik has played just one match prior to the US Open, but that doesn’t concern him at the moment.

«You don’t really think about a Grand Slam when you’re going to have a baby,» Bublik said. “We are getting used to the new chapter of our life. It is not as difficult as some say. It’s much more fun even though he’s not talking and sleeping all the time.

Your home becomes even warmer and more pleasant even though you are crying. It’s unbelievable.” Overall, it’s been a good year for Bublik. Earlier this year in Montpellier, Bublik won his first ATP title after upsetting Alexander Zverev in the final.

Additionally, Bublik achieved a career-high ranking of 30th this year. When it comes to the upcoming US Open, Bublik is hoping to reach the second week at Flushing Meadows for the first time in his career. Bublik’s best US Open result came in 2019, when he reached the third round before losing to Pablo Andújar. It remains to be seen if Bublik can make a deep run in his first tournament since he became a father.
