Swiatek on the belief that «pressure is a privilege»
Swiatek, 21, has not dropped a set in his first three Grand Slam finals.
Swiatek is absolutely key in Grand Slam finals, but admits he’s not really someone who enjoys the pressure too much. «I wouldn’t say there’s a lot of joy,» admitted Swiatek after the final.
«I was actually thinking about it yesterday. The day before the final, I didn’t enjoy it at all. I feel like you really have to like the adrenaline rush, you really have to be excited about the whole experience to feel that.»
But I am more of a person who will have doubts. But when I go to the court, I forget about it. I just focus on the things that are going to make me play better and win points. I realized that if I’m going to win points and play well, the stress will go away anyway.
So, yes, it’s not easy, but I feel that on the court I can do my job and I’m happy for that, that I can make these doubts go away. Sometimes it’s also difficult to do that throughout the season. So for sure in Toronto, Cincinnati, I had a lot more doubts.»
